Triple chocolate American cookies

Kristel Cescotto

Delicious, soft in the centre and rich in chocolate: triple chocolate American cookies are one of those sweet recipes that win you over at first bite.

Perfect with a cup of coffee, the first hot chocolate of the day in front of the fireplace, or simply to pamper yourself after a long day. These cookies have an irresistible texture — crispy on the edges and melt-in-the-mouth in the centre — and a buttery aroma that gently fills the kitchen.

They are quick and easy to make, but the result is like something from a real American bakery. All you need are a few simple ingredients, a few minutes in the oven and the magic of triple chocolate will do the rest… in a perfect balance of sweetness and character, for a dessert that tastes of home, comfort and those little moments of simple happiness in everyday life.

Preparation: 15 minutes

Cooking time: 15 minutes

Makes 15 cookies

Difficulty: easy

INGREDIENTS

  • 285 g plain flour
  • 5 g baking powder
  • 5 g bicarbonate of soda
  • 5 g cornflour
  • 150 g brown sugar
  • 50 g caster sugar
  • 220 g softened butter
  • 2 eggs, chilled
  • Seeds from one vanilla pod
  • 200 g dark chocolate chips
  • 150 g milk chocolate, chopped into small pieces
  • 100 g white chocolate

PREPARATION

  1. Sift the dry ingredients into a bowl: flour, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda and cornflour. Set aside.
  2. In a second large bowl, beat the butter with the brown sugar and caster sugar using a whisk until you have a fluffy cream.
  3. Now add the eggs to the cream, one at a time. Continue beating the mixture for a few minutes, until the dough becomes light and uniform.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the dough, mixing only until they are blended (be careful not to overwork the mixture). Finally, add the vanilla seeds.
  5. Now add 2/3 of the chocolate chips, milk chocolate and white chocolate; mix.
  6. Line a baking tray with baking paper. Using a spoon or ice cream scoop, shape the dough into balls; do not flatten them, as the heat of the oven will do this. Place a few biscuits on each baking tray, leaving at least 10 cm between them.
  7. Add the remaining chocolate on top of each ball.
  8. Bake for 13 to 16 minutes in a preheated oven at 180°C on the middle shelf until the edges are golden brown and the centre is still slightly soft.
  9. Once ready, remove from the oven and leave the American cookies to cool on the baking tray for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Ready! Enjoy your snack!
