Christmas matcha tea biscuits with white chocolate icing – the recipe
Difficulty: easy
Preparation: 30 minutes + 15 minutes baking time
Servings: 8 people
INGREDIENTS
For the Christmas matcha tea biscuits
- 250 g 00 flour
- 10 g matcha tea
- 125 g butter
- 1 yolk
- 75 g icing sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
For the white chocolate icing
- 100 g white chocolate
- 15 g butter
- 1 tablespoon water
- q.b sugar sprinkles for decoration
PREPARATION
- Melt the butter in a bain-marie (or microwave), then add the icing sugar, matcha tea and pinch of salt. Mix with a whisk.
- Pour the flour into a bowl, add the egg yolk and tea mixture to the centre.
- Start mixing, first with a fork and then with your hands, briefly, until the mixture is smooth.
- Shape into a dough ball and wrap it in cling film, let it rest in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.
- After this time, recover the dough and roll it out into a rolling pin, dusting with a little flour.
- Cut out the biscuits with your favourite Christmas shape, I used the Christmas tree.
- Place the matcha tea biscuits on a baking tray lined with baking paper; bake at 180°C for 8 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and leave to cool.
- Now prepare the white chocolate icing as follows: melt the butter in a bain-marie, remove from the heat and add the chopped white chocolate and the tablespoon of water, stir until gently melted. Return to the heat for a few moments only if the chocolate does not melt. This type of chocolate is in fact very “sensitive” to heat and, if in excess, is liable to spoil.
- All that remains is to dip the Christmas biscuits into the white chocolate, place them on a tray and decorate them with sugar sprinkles. As soon as the chocolate has set, they are ready to be enjoyed!
