The most bizarre time of the year is on its way, a time when (as the Italian saying goes) “any joke can be played”. So, don’t be caught unawares! If you want to prepare a Carnival party at home you’re in the right place to get all the information you need.

How to organise a kids’ Carnival party

1.Invitations. Colours and fun are essential ingredients for an eye-catching invitation. Enjoy yourself by inventing fanciful cards with your children.

2.Decorations. Make your own homemade decorations or by some ready-made ones in good time. Here too, the important thing is colour and colour again. Play with your home furnishings (for example, if you have a fireplace why not hang some cheerful festoons from it?!). Make sure each decoration – including your tableware – is as colourful as possible. One last suggestion? Buy plenty of streamers but rule out confetti unless you want to find them in every nook and cranny of your home for the rest of the year!

3.Party food. Typical carnival food like our cream-filled Frittelle recipe are indispensable for a proper carnival party but you can also add some savoury snacks and some beverages as well.

4.Games and music. Make sure your party guests never get bored by preparing a list of possible activities to do and games to play with the children in advance. To complete the atmosphere don’t forget to create a playlist of your young guests’ favourite songs!

How to organise a Carnival party for adults.

The same tips apply to adults, but with some variations.

1.Invitations. Make sure you communicate the date, time and place, as well as the theme of the party – if any – well in advance. This is the only way to make sure most of your guests can get organised in time to actually be present.

2.Decorations. Your choice of decorations will depend a lot on the atmosphere you want to create for the evening. If you choose a theme, everything will have to be as coordinated as possible.

3.Buffet. The food can vary depending on your tastes and those of your guests. Before you start cooking, remember to check with your guest for allergies, food intolerances and preferences.

4.Music. Music is even more important than the decorations. Put a good selection of music together and make sure your loud speakers can diffuse it wherever needed. Let’s party!
