In this season, nothing could be better that an outdoor barbecue with friends (to this regard, until 30th June you can benefit from special discounts on a wide range of Palazzetti barbecues!) and this pesky little insect is the only thing that can ruin your peace of mind.
Let’s discover various ways of enjoying a really relaxing barbecue dinner in the garden.

1. Homemade mosquito-repellent candles
One of the most common remedies to keep mosquitoes at bay is the mosquito coil but, if you prefer a homemade solution, you can prepare these handmade candles.
All you need are a glass jar (a jam or sauce jar will do just fine), some beeswax, wicks, wick stoppers and the right mosquito-repellent essential oils.
The most effective ones are undoubtedly geranium, lavender and citronella.
To create your homemade candles you should melt the beeswax in a small pan, add 5 drops of your favourite essential oil and then pour the wax in a jar making sure the wick stays upright in the centre.
An extra tip?
To make your outdoor barbecue party even more delightful you can prepare lots of tiny candles from painted oil bottle caps.

2. Natural mosquito-repellent remedies: the right plants
Choosing the right plants can also be an excellent way to keep mosquitoes at bay.
Intensely aromatic plants such as mint, basil and lavender are easy to grow and very effective. Although its smell is much less pleasant, garlic is also very useful.
Use these plants to create some centrepieces: your guests will thank you!

Put some white wine vinegar, lemon slices and rosemary sprigs in some jugs.
The result will be fun and decorative and an effective remedy to keep mosquitoes away from your table.
