How to save energy by using your fridge more efficiently

The correct position for your fridge

  4. Do not put hot food directly into the refrigerator. Let food cool down to room temperature before storing it. This reduces the work of the compressor and saves energy.
  5. Use airtight containers: they keep food fresh for longer, prevent unpleasant odours and reduce the need to further lower the temperature of the refrigerator.
  6. Empty the refrigerator and unplug it if you are away for a long time: this is good practice. This not only saves energy, but also prevents the formation of unpleasant odours.
