Have you chosen your table setting mise en place for the holidays yet? Is your home sufficiently full of the Xmas spirit? Great, it’s now time to go one step further: here are a few DIY ideas to make your table look even more festive! Ready to create your perfect Xmas and New Years’ centrepiece?

Give your ice bucket a new leash of life!
We’re sure there will be at least one bottle of white wine to drink a toast with at Xmas and on New Year’s Eve and that you will want to keep it nice and cool. Why don’t you use your imagination to decorate your ice bucket? All you need are a few gold baubles as shown here!

Decorated vases in no time
You can do great things with a plain, transparent vase and some gift wrapping ribbon! Choose some flowers to suit the theme of your table, add a touch of gold or silver then tie a ribbon around the vase.

Glittery trees
You need lots of patience for this project (especially to clean up after you’ve finished!). All you need are some plain polystyrene cones in various sizes covered with glitter. Just add a star at the top: really easy don’t you think?

Decorative cake stand
We don’t all serve five o’clock tea every day like the Four Seasons but we almost all have a cake stand somewhere in our kitchen. You can decorate yours as shown in the photo: fill it with baubles to match your Xmas tree decorations!

Hygge-style paper bags
We couldn’t possibly pass this Scandinavian idea by because it’s really simple to make. Lightly colour the bottom of some natural paper bags, fill them with some dry twigs and pine cones and that’s it, you’re done!
