Let’s face it, after a barbecue it can be difficult to find room for a dessert. After all, how can you resist meat cooked to perfection on a barbecue, a tender joint roasted on a spit or a fish cooked in a wood-fired oven? Exactly, it’s impossible.

What you need is a homemade ice-lolly: tasty, refreshing and light. A guilt-free dessert that can be prepared in minutes (and a few hours in the freezer) thanks to special ice-lolly moulds.

So, after the barbeque, which one to choose? Here are five of our suggestions, there’s something for everyone.

Fresh, with lime & mint

Chop the mint up finely and mix it with squeezed lime and still water. Too sour for the little ones? Add some sugar syrup, obtained by melting some sugar in a saucepan with water.

If adults want an extra kick, you can add a little white rum before freezing for the perfect mojito ice-lollies to get the dancing going after sun-down!

Energetic, with coffee

Cool the mocha coffee and mix it with water and fresh liquid cream (equal parts water and coffee and two parts cream). You can decide whether to sweeten your coffee ice-lollies according to your taste: the important thing is to dissolve the sugar with water in a small saucepan to turn it into syrup.

Scenic, with lemon and lime

Blend the kiwi (must be ripe) with the squeezed lemon and a little water, taking care not to overheat the liquid with the blades of the blender (e.g. by using the pulse function).

Super-summery, with watermelon

Cut the watermelon into pieces and carefully remove all the seeds, then blend it (or use an extractor) to make it as liquid as possible. Mix with water and freeze for at least 5 hours.

Sweet, with pineapple and coconut

Blend the pineapple until it is as liquid as possible. You can decide whether to strain it or keep the remaining solid pieces in the ice-lolly. Now decide which type of coconut you want to use: you can choose coconut milk or a syrup, diluted with still water.

Want to create a frozen cocktail for your guests? Add white rum to the mix to serve piña colada ice-lollies!

The possibilities are of course endless, and the only limit is your imagination: with moulds and some fresh fruit you will already have all the necessary ingredients!
