2018 garden furniture trends: in or outdoors?

This year’s interior design fashion styles are very clear and it’s high time to think about 2018 garden furniture trends. What could be better, at the end of a long summer day, than to relax in your own outdoor chill-out area. No matter whether it’s a balcony, a terrace or a full-blown garden, must-haves are some comfortable armchairs, some plants to create a natural, relaxing atmosphere and even a barbecue for a nice al fresco dinner!

Outdoor life is in!

One of the 2018 garden furniture trends is definitely an overlap between indoor and outdoor styles. There is a certain continuity in terms of the materials and shapes chosen for interior design and the outdoor furniture for terraces, balconies and in gardens. In fact, some furniture is actually designed to be hybrid, to look perfect both inside and outside because the spaces of these two environments are now imaged to sort of merge into each other. 

Shabby chic is here to stay

Eco-friendly elements and romantic atmospheres:  the shabby chic style is confirmed as one of the 2018 garden furniture trends. The trend to use recycled materials such as eco-pallets to create lounge furniture, creative pots or other imaginative occasional furniture is still all the rage. Wood in all its versions is a real favourite, completed by soft furnishings in every possible shade of green, from light pastel to olive green but also including sage green. This romantic atmosphere is then heightened by the right lighting:  candles are still popular as are rows of small light bulbs hung on pergolas or tree branches to create a real, fairytale atmosphere.

A blaze of ornamental plants

To create the perfect sanctuary, outdoor furniture must be complemented by the right ornamental plants. The jungle style has been so successful this season that we must add tropical plants to our 2018 garden trends.
